5 things you should know while going through recruitment

Lets face it, sorority recruitment is scary. You have no idea what to expect or what to wear or how to describe yourself when asked too, you don't know what a Gamma Chi is and your only pair of super cute shoes were left back at home. Take a deep breath, its only one weekend of stress. Being a double legacy gave me some insight as to what I was getting myself into although was still nervous to start the process. Though it may be scary, Its worth it. College is scary, moving to a small town is scary (for us city folk) but greek life doesn't have to be. I'll just tell you this: It was the best decision I've ever made.

1. Before your parties: Take a deep breath

Nothing is scarier than walking into a party where 100 girls immediately want to get to know you. You got this, It is overwhelming at first but actives really genuinely want to get to know you.

2. Be yourself!!!

No one likes talking to someone who doesn't seem genuine . Even if you're from a different state you and the active will have something in common. Odds are you'll have a super awesome conversation about your dog. Trust me it happens. Just ask questions, be quirky, be weird, be YOU!

3. Keep an open mind

Not every sorority will be your cup of tea. Each one has different philanthropies that may appeal to you and some that wont. Don't go in with preconceived ideas about what each sorority will be like. Give them all a try and you may be surprised with the one you end up liking!

4. Trust the system

Everyone always has their dream sorority they would do anything to be in. Just keep in mind that its not the end of the world if you get dropped from them. TRUST THE SYSTEM!!! I promise it will all work out in the end. I encourage you to continue through recruitment even if you get dropped from your dream chapter.

5. Confidence is key. Whats meant to be will be.

Be confident! You will find your greek life home by then end of the weekend. Keep your head up and show greek life why you deserve to be apart of it. Being in the greek community will truly be the best decision you've made.

From the outside looking in you will never understand it. From the inside looking out you will never be able to explain it.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
