Midterms are finally coming to an end and it's time for most of us to head home for a few days and enjoy fall break. The stress of our heavy workload at school can come to a pause for a little bit, and we can enjoy some time home with friends and family. Here are five things you should make sure to do while you're home for fall break:

1. Spend time with family

This is the most important thing to me. I haven't been able to come home in two months or see any of my family, so looking forward to spending time with my family has been such a blessing. It is so important to let the stress of school and the crazy college lifestyle go for a little bit and take some time to relax with your family.

2. See your old friends

One of the best things about coming home for a little bit is getting to see all of your old friends from high school and your hometown. All my friends and I from my city have gone our separate ways and although we stay in touch, there is nothing like seeing each other in-person. After being apart for so long nothing feels better than reuniting.

3. Sleep in

I don't know about you but while I am at school I am never able to sleep in. During the week I have 8 and 9 a.m. classes and on the weekend I always have too much work to do to be able to sleep in. Fall break is the best time to catch up on sleep and be able to completely relax.

4. Catch up on Netflix

At school I never, ever have time to watch my favorite shows on Netflix or on TV because I am too busy studying and doing school work. With a few free days at home, I am making sure to relax and catch up on some of my favorites.

5. Get your life together

Honestly, I have heard so many people say they need to "get their lives together" during fall break. Sometimes we get so consumed in the same routine at school and keeping up with all of our school work that we forget to focus on anything else. For me, over fall break I need to take the time to look over possible internship options for next summer since I don't have much time to do so at school.

Make sure that wherever you are over fall break you make time for these five things, and enjoy your time off!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
