There comes a time in life when, in the blink of an eye, your little brother becomes bigger, stronger, and faster than you. Now let me tell you, it is a very dark day when this happens. The years of being the bigger and older sister who bossed him around, teased him, the list of everything I have done to my brother is endless, but that is what older sisters are for...right? Unfortunately for me, my little brother who is four years younger than me has reached that point of age where roles have reversed and I am now in the shoes of the little sibling. With the roles being reversed, now there are a few things that have become the new normal.

1. "You're the older sister?"

When boys grow up, they tend to look very old very quick. This is where the questions of who is older comes into play. If I had a dollar for every time I was confused for being the younger of the two, I'd be rich.

2. Payback is a BITCH.

When you are little, you never think about the fact that one day your little brother will be bigger than you. The years of you being able to beat up your brother, boss him around, or nag him are long gone, and now he has years of abuse to make up for. Let me tell you, PAYBACK IS A BITCH.

3. They become protective over you.

Growing up, I have always been protective over him, making sure he was safe and happy. Now, although I will always be protective over my little brother, he has also started to become overly protective over me, and I can't say that I mind having him look out for me.

4. Hug me brotha!

Who doesn't love a good hug? It is even better when it comes from someone who is your best bud. Brother hugs are the best hugs.

5. They will always be your little brother.

NO matter that my little brother is bigger, stronger, and looks older than me. He will always be my little brother.

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
