We are all similar in some situations. We all have necessities that we cannot leave without. Whether it is something totally useful or completely useless, you never know if you might need it at any point of the day. It is OK, because our purses cover that for us.

1. Makeup Bag

We all need that touch up at some point of the day. Your Lipstick faded? Girl, put a new color on. Eyelashes falling off? Girl, I got a new pair. Wait, did you sweat it all off? That is OK. Look in that big purse of yours, because we all are not ashamed to say that we have that extra makeup bag. You never know who you might need to impress. Girl, impress yourself.

2. Deodorant

Do you have a man or parent sometimes rushing you out the door, and you end up forgetting one very important step? DEODORANT! You never know what man you might run into. What if you meet Beyoncé? She won’t be impressed if you smell like cooked onions. Either way, thank that person for rushing you, because she reminded you to smell good.

3. Bottle of Lotion

Listen, Bath & Body Works does not sell good ass lotion to sit at home on the counter. We keep it in our purse. After you get done eating, playing basketball, or even using the restroom a little lotion is your savor to smelling good deep into the pores of your skin. Sometimes the weather can get rough on our skin too. Being cold can cause dry skin. Girl, lotion up. Just got in the house and it is raining? Look, there is that lotion again.

4. iPhone Charger

All those selfies you took all day and you are not able to go home to charge your phone? Well, bring your charger wherever you go. Sometimes you may find yourself sitting on your phone, and then BAM, two percent and you are freaking out. You may even find yourself asking everyone around you, “Got an iPhone charger?” Say no more, we girls keep an extra cord in our purse.

5. Feminine Care

Not the time of the month? Well, your girlfriends might need one. Always having a backup saves those favorite pair of pants. Ladies, we all know it is unexpected and that is OK. Remember, take a deep breath and reach your hand into that purse.

Listen, women have problems with their appearance, menstrual cycles, and life in general. We need these things to keep us sane, or we are one unhappy female. The bigger the purse the better for these reasons. I stand up as one of these women. I have to say, I do not leave the door without all these items. Life happens, you never know what you might need. There are even plenty of other things we might keep in our bags as well. Q-tips, bandages, lip balm, gum, and even a lint roller and other small things. I don’t know about you, but these five things are the majority of things I carry on a daily basis.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
