Despite being the shortest month of the year, February leaves a significant impact on everyone, especially with Valentine's Day. Love it or hate it, it's here to stay. In my personal experience, the annoying reminder of my lack of a love life is relieved when I celebrate Valentine's Day with my pooch. Whether you're single, like me, or in a serious relationship, here are five things to do with your dog on Valentine's Day that doesn't involve chocolate.

1. A Jog in MacKenzie Park

What a better way to spend Valentine's Day with your pooch than to get out and play! MacKenzie Park is home to an amusement park, two golf courses, and much more. Dogs are allowed throughout the park, except in buildings. If you and Fido like to enjoy nature, you can run around the plethora of trails and playgrounds in the park.

2. My Furry Valentine Adoption and Festival at Maxey Park

Hosted by the Lubbock Parks and Recreation, My Furry Valentine Adoption is a fun way to spend some time with your dog in a fun, dog-friendly environment. They're even hosting an adoption event for those of you who want to find your furry soulmate. If you're not interested in adopting, go to the doggy kissing booth and the paw readings to see your dog's future!

3. A Shopping Spree

I'll admit that I'm guilty when it comes to spoiling my dog rotten and any other dog owner will admit it too. Treat your dog to a fun shopping day at one of the two Petsmart locations where they can meet other dogs and get a fun toy too! If your dog isn't much of a toy person, Three Dog Bakery offers a wide variety of dog-friendly cookies and cakes.

4. Field Trip to Palo Duro Canyon

Palo Duro Canyon is the shining jewel of West Texas and one of the few, non-alcoholic things you can do out here. Even better is that they're pet-friendly , as long as Fido's on a leash and you pick up after them. There are tons of great hiking trails for you and your dog to explore and maybe some other dogs to meet too. To make it even more fun, invite your friends and their dogs and make it a picnic!

5. Movie Night at Stars and Stripes Drive-In

Do you want to see 50 Shades Darker, but don't want to leave your fur-baby at home? Then go to the Stars and Stripes Drive-In and catch a flick! Your dog is allowed in as long as it's in the car or on a leash . You can even share some chicken strips and popcorn!

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
