With the hype for "The Force Awakens" dying down, it's evident that people will pay top dollar to see a Star Wars movie multiple times. People often ask, "What's the big deal about it?" Dedicated Star Wars fans consider it to be a sin when people try to compare Star Wars to Star Trek -- they're not the same! What is it that people love about Star Wars? There are a handful of reasons why this phenomenon will always call the Force within us.

1. The Story

Straight off the bat, it's about the story. Even though the prequels were a nightmare to sit through, the big picture is what made it worthwhile. It's the hidden themes throughout this widespread story that grasps our attention. There's something within Star Wars that brings a nostalgic emotion to its fans and leaves us coming back for more fixes.

2. The Lore

The merchandise of Star Wars is astronomical. Books, TV shows, and even fan-fictions, it's all there. Just because there are seven Star Wars films does not mean it ends there. Authors have written books about background characters, providing them more involvement with the main story of the first six movies. Fans spend hours piecing together theories that are extremely evident. It provides the dedicated fans something to dig into outside of George Lucas' original six.

3. The Music

Even though you may not be a Star Wars fan, you will definitely recognize musical scores like "The Imperial March." Perhaps the reason most people adore the Star Wars franchise is because of the music itself. John Williams wrote masterpieces and created themes that will eternally replay in our heads. Without John Williams' score behind the scenes, Star Wars wouldn't feel the same.

4. The Characters

Seeing growth in characters causes us to emotionally connect with them. Star Wars is loaded with memorable characters. Each one is distinguishable from the other and fans can recognize their faces easily. Throughout the Star Wars movies, we see characters grow up and develop their character arcs. Seeing them from where they started to where they ended up involves a thrilling (even an emotional) ride for the audience.

5. The Merchandise

Possibly one of the biggest reasons why people love Star Wars is the merchandise. Whether it's toys, video games, clothing, or something else, Star Wars has a hand in that area catering to our Star Wars cravings. It causes fans to express their appreciation for the franchise and keeps the magic alive in the saga.

Even if you're not a Star Wars fan, it's easy to witness the impact it has had on our culture. There's something hiding deep within the movies that continues bringing fans back years later after its original release. Whether it's the nostalgic trip or the new memories shared, Star Wars will always be a cultural phenomenon.

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection.
