5 Things I Want To Tell My Best Friends

To the best friends who never left me.

5 Things I Want To Tell My Best Friends
Kaitlyn Rourke

1. I love you!

Honestly, this should go without saying. We've been together since elementary school and nothing can tear us apart! And if we wanted to get rid of each other, we couldn't! Remember that time I said I would enter an open marriage with you for financial stability? The offer still stands.

2. I'm sorry that I'm a busy person!

I've never found a gif that resonates with me more than that one. As I write this, I'm in Business Finance trying to learn about the time value of money, but all I can think about is how my two jobs, being a resident assistant, class, homework, and trying to have a social life makes me want to die. Thank you for trying to understand my pain. Please don't think that I'm ignoring you! I'm here for you whenever you need me!

3. Life is moving forward, but I'll always need you!

Adulthood is sinking its claws into us and pulling us our separate ways. We're spread out by almost 200 miles, going to college, working jobs, and I'm moving in with my boyfriend this coming summer. You guys will always be the Samwise to my Frodo... Now let's go into Mordor!

4. I miss you!

To go from living with each other to being 200 miles apart isn't easy. I miss our random Walmart trips, Domino's road trip adventures, and days spent indoors watching Game of Thrones and reducing our TBR book pile. I may have my amazing friends that I met in college, but they don't have the history that we do.

5. Thank you!

Thank you for dealing with my shit. Thank you for staying. Thank you for being patient with me. Thank you for sharing wonderful memories with me. Thank you for all the times you listened to me rant. Thank you for being there when I needed you.

P.S. Shout out to my bitches Kelsey and Myheisha for harassing me for a best friend article! I hope you enjoy!

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

mu bucket list

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
