5 Things Not To Do To Twins

Number 5 happens more often than you think..

5 Things Not To Do To Twins
Lisa Geissler

Hi! If you couldn't tell I'm a twin! In the happy hugging twin from the image above. Being a twin is pretty awesome, but here are a few things you should avoid doing to a twin.

1.) Call us by our siblings' name

It might be one of my biggest pet peeves. My twin and I don't even look that much alike but we still get confused. I think it was worse when we were younger, and we could put up with it from teachers that had us in the same class at the same time, but once we hit High School it got old fast.

2.) Ask us if we're really twins

If we're Twins, we're Twins. Don't ask for proof, either. We understand that it can be a bit confusing for people that understand the fact that two kids can be born together. But, Twins don't lie about being twins and it can get annoying when people don't believe us (especially for the identical twins!).

I have a friend named Katie who's an identical twin and it can get just as bad for her and her twin, "Having people ask if we are related (is something that people do). I like to tell them that Anna (her twin) is adopted."

3.) Ask who's older

Don't. Open. This. Can. Of. Worms. Just don't. The 'younger' twin can get real salty about this real quick. I, however, believe that since twins were born on the same day and they're the same age. Going down to the minute that you're born just seems wired. No one asks you what TIME you were born, they ask you what DAY.

4.) Believing that they are exactly the same person.

This really goes more into the identical twin category, but it can also apply to Fraternal twins. Yes, we are twins, and while we might like some of the same things. We aren't the same people, you can't just assume we're both have the same ambitions and the same dreams. Every person is different, even if our DNA is the same. We aren't clones (okay, maybe only technically...)

5.) Get us confused if you're dating one of us.

That sounds like a sitcom trope if the show has a pair of identical twins. But that idea had to come from somewhere, it happens. Just try to find they key differences between the twin you're dating and the twin you aren't dating to avoid this situation. It'll safe yourself some major embarrassment. And the wrath of each of the twins.

There are plenty more, any twins out there? Do you have anything to add?

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
