1. There really isn't a Syllabus Day.
It's more like Hit-The-Ground-Running Day because introductions are a waste of time for both the teacher and the student.
2. It's all too fast.
By the time you finish Week One, you realize that there's only two more weeks until the overwhelming midterm exams, essays, and projects hit you.
3. Those long breaks.
The long, 6 week winter break for anything you want to do: internships, study abroad, or getting some well-deserved rest.
4. Not as many classes.
Having 3 or 4 classes per term makes everything just that much more manageable than those on the semester system.
5. Everyone doing their own thing.
Everyone on campus relatively understands the schedule and workload of each week even though everyone is out doing their own thing. It's always nice to hear that Week 5 is over, because if you've survived half the trimester you can push through until the end.
