5 Things To Thank Your Grandparents For
Tori Covington

"Young people need something stable to hang on to — a culture connection, a sense of their own past, a hope for their own future. Most of all, they need what grandparents can give them."– Jay Kesler

1. The endless support. No matter what you do, you know your grandparents will always be optimistic and cheer you on.

2. The amazing hugs and kisses on the cheek you receive when you haven't seen them in awhile, knowing it's so genuine.

3. Truly knowing they're always a phone call away no matter when or where, they'll be there for you.

4. Being a more lenient set of second parents. They'll discipline you when needed, but will always slip you a cookie under the table when your moms not watching.

5. For being some of your best friends. Whether it's rides to the mall, or coming over for dinner, some of the best moments are those spent with your grandparents.

Thank you to all of the grandparents out there, you are appreciated more than you'll ever know. We know sometimes you think your efforts and support go unnoticed, but trust us when we say they never do and that we remember every moment. We love you.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
