So, the holidays are here and the kids are back from college. If you know a college freshman, then there are definitely specific things that are on their list that are different from the past 18 years of their lives. For your benefit- I put together a list of what to get your favorite freshman.

1. Food

Let's face it, college food is not as good as it is at home. Nothing compares to home-cooking, especially after being away for so long, having the same three dining places every day, it gets old, folks.

2. Money

This is crucial--most students don't work during their first semesters, so money quickly depletes. Any amount would help any student in need.

3. Toiletries

I never knew how expensive shampoo, shaving cream, toothpaste, and every other necessity were. It may not seem ideal, but I know I would love it.

4. Food

Seriously, food is on the top of my list. Anything will do- gift cards, baked goods, or just buying me dinner somewhere :)

5. A First-Aid Kit

No one ever thinks to bring a first aid kit to college, but when we get paper cuts or broken nails, we regret not having anything to fix it with.

I hope this list helps spark some ideas for what to get your favorite college kids in your life! Happy Holidays!

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
