The spring semester of college is upon us and we all know what that means: STRESS.
College students everywhere can agree that classes are hard and we need some time to relax and decompress after a long day of classes.
Relaxing with a book, tv show, or something else can help to keep your mind off of the torturous school work and focus on other less stressful things. Here's just a few ways you can relax and rejuvenate when the semester starts to get you down:
1.Take a bath.
One of my favorite things to refresh after a long day is to take a nice warm bath. Feeling the warm water all around you soothes the tension in your body and makes you feel so much better and relaxed. Putting a LUSH bath bomb in the water also helps; my favorite is the Butterbear bath bomb. Butterbear dissolves into the warm water and fills the bathtub with a warm vanilla scent and leaves your skin so soft from the cocoa butter it's made from. If you don’t have a bathtub, a long hot shower also does the trick. They do say the best thinking occurs in the shower...
2. Apply a face mask.
Lathering your skin with a fresh face mask can make anyone happy. A nice face mask will soften your skin and clean out oils and dirt. One of my favorite (and best reviewed) face masks is the Cup O’ Coffee face and body mask by LUSH. This is the perfect way to kick-start the day; the mask wakes up your skin with the rich, intoxicating aroma of freshly brewed coffee. It also wakes you up and motivates you for the day ahead.
3. Escape with a tv show.
Escape your troubles and worries with one of your favorite shows. One of the best shows to watch to escape from your worries is Gossip Girl. Transport yourself to the upper east side of New York and pretend that Chuck Bass or Nate Archibald is your boyfriend. This will help you to forget your worries and daydream about being a glamorous upper east sider just for a little bit.
4. Read a book.
One of the best things to do when stressed out is to engross yourself in a book. Some of the best books to read when school or work is getting to you are motivational or inspiring works. Books to help you to start feeling great again are “Girlboss”, “You Are A Badass”, or poetry books.
5. Write in a journal.
Putting pen to paper is one of the best ways to avoid stress. If you write out your troubles, it can help you feel much better about your problems and help you to assess the situation with fresh eyes. Writing in a journal can also help to show you where you were and how you overcame your problems to get to where you are today.
Here's to a great spring semester of college! Just remember to take some "me" time for some relaxation and serenity.
