Graduation is quickly approaching and senioritis has completely set in. Not only have I calculated the exact number of assignments I can miss and still make a passing grade, but I have also skipped all of my allotted classes and created the most beautiful countdown of all time.
That being said, college has been fun. From laying on roofs at 3:00 am my freshman year to studying my butt off, I don't regret a single thing that I've done. However, I do regret the things I haven't done. There have been so many things I missed out on throughout the years, so here's 5 things that you should do before graduation to ensure you aren't missing out like I did.
1. Use The Free Things On Campus.
So I ignored this one after my freshman year. For some reason things that were free weren't nearly as much of a draw anymore. I was wrong. You better enjoy the free candy, shirts, movies, water bottles, etc that your campus offers. The real world sucks and nobody is going to be giving you anything free unless you're at the bar and someone is buying you drinks.
2. Go To A Crazy Out Of The Norm Event.
For me, this is Carolina Cup. I'm not uber preppy, into Lilly, or even into horse races. I am, however, into new experiences. For those of you who don't know, Carolina Cup is essentially an all day tailgating event for a horse race. Technically, the horse race is the highlight, but I think we all know it's actually the tailgating that gets people to go. No, you don't need to go to a ritzy day party to complete your college experience, but if partying is already your norm go to a nice theatre premier in town or something you wouldn't normally do. You'll thank me later.
3. For Goodness Sake Please Take A Fun Class.
Weightlifting, improvisation, and scuba diving. These are all options that my university has, and we're just a normal public university. I've taken two of the three options and wish I could have taken scuba diving. So many students get caught up in the required classes that they forget that they're paying for this. If you're paying you might as well at least enjoy a few of your classes. Sure, it might not always help you graduate to take these classes, but at least it'll be a class you look forward to.
4. Go Out.
By the time you're a senior you're most likely 21 or older. Take your senior year to explore the town you're in before you leave! In my town we have a barcade (yes, a bar arcade) that gets a lot of my money. I love being able to find new places in town that have fun games, trivia nights, or karaoke nights that I wouldn't have known about otherwise.
5. Sleep!
Okay, hear me out. I know that in college sleep doesn't really exist unless you have no job and no friends. I'm personally getting on my knees and begging you to take a personal day. Don't go to class, don't go to work, and don't hang out with friends. Just sleep. Unfortunately, graduation doesn't mean you get your sleep back, so do yourself a favor with this one.
