5 Things To Consider Before Getting A Tattoo

Will you have a good or bad experience?

5 Things To Consider Before Getting A Tattoo

So, you are thinking about getting a tattoo. Whether this will be your first or your tenth, it will more than likely be an experience you will never forget. Here are some things you should consider before getting inked up.

1. Location, location, location!

Decide where you want to get your tattoo. Future jobs should be a huge factor when determining where you are going to be getting your tattoo. Many jobs don't allow tattoos to be visible but some jobs do, but they need to be appropriate, so make sure to choose the location wisely. Also, different parts of the body hurt more than others, so if you are worried about the pain make sure to do some research.

2. Size

Size does matter in this case. The size of your tattoo depends on your own preference and the location that you decide on. The artist might suggest for you to go bigger or smaller depending on what will look best. I would suggest you listen to their opinion, they are the professional. They know what they are doing.

3. The actual tattoo

A really good tip that I have is that when you decide what tattoo you want, wait a year or so. If in a year you still want the tattoo then get it. You want to make sure that it is something you really want, you don't want to regret getting it. Here is a common misconception about tattoos, many people say that you have to get a tattoo that means something to you. This is not true, it is your body. If you just like the look of a certain tattoo, then get it. It doesn't have to have a meaning behind it.

4. The tattoo shop/ artist

Do a lot of research about the different tattoo shops around you. Also ask around, if you like someone's tattoo ask them where they got it done and what artist did it. Looking through artists portfolios is a good idea so you know what the artist is capable of. Make sure to get your tattoo done by a professional, don't let your friend do it in a basement. That is just a horrible idea.

5. Price

Tattoos can be expensive. Most tattoo shops have a minimum of $50. The overall price is mainly determined by the artist. Each artist has an hourly rate, so obviously the bigger the tattoo, the more expensive. Don't forget to tip!

Overall, tattoos are great, but you really need to consider these five things. I hope your tattoo experience is something you will remember forever.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
