When traveling, there are always things that you end up thanking yourself for bringing, and then those that you wish you had. Whether you are someone who never packs enough, or always packs too much remembering certain items can make or break your trip. Being someone who lives states away from my friends, I have done a lot of driving, flying, and train riding. I was always looking for things to make my traveling easier, more efficient, and not lacking in anything. Here are the things I have learned to bring with me no matter where I go.

1. Loaded Spotify playlist

There is nothing better than being able to distract yourself from a long car ride with some good tunes playing! You can put whatever you want on the list, and even your friends can add some that they like.

2. Ear plugs

If you need some rest and you are out and about, the sound level won't matter and you can go straight to sleep!

3. Snacks

Salty, sweet, whatever you like to eat! Having a full stomach is much better when you're traveling because you won't feel like you need to take away from the trip by stopping at those restaurants you pass by.

4. Layers

That way you will be prepared for any weather, and never be uncomfortable.

5. Emergency "Kit"

Band-aids, wet wipes, hair ties, paper towels, pillows and blankets. Don't forget to have an emergency tire in the car if you're driving and some extra gas!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
