It's not a phase mom, it's who I am.
If you are like me, you may find yourself indulging on sweet, sweet American sitcoms. It's a guilty pleasure of mine, sue me. However I am one of those annoying TV watchers who don't intend on it but wind up dissecting shows and the messages some may not be so quick to catch. Here are my top five things The Office has shown me in my everyday life.
1. When life throws lemons, make the best out of it.
It is evident that life will throw curve balls at you and challenge your reaction. You can't change the outcome of the situation but you are the ultimate fate maker on how the outcome effects you. Throughout the entirety of the office, Michael Scott proves that whatever happens to him he will come back 100 times better than before and I think that speaks volumes in life, if something knocks you down, get back up and try again!
2. Don't sell yourself short.
Sometimes in life we are all faced with the uncertainty of others. There will be times when people test your limits and then there will be people who try and out do you and who think they are better than you, and that's okay. You are the best version of your own self and nobody can take that away from you. Know your worth and know your potential. The hidden message I feel within the office is that everybody is working as an underdog and are proving the doubters wrong along the way.
3. Always speak whats on your mind, even if its cringey
Anyone who has seen the office knows exactly what I'm talking about. The office has taught me to speak whats on your mind 100% of the time. You are given this one life to live and why should anyone hold back on what they feel? If you can't be honest with others, you aren't being honest with yourself.
4. Live life like nobody's watching!
YOLO, right? ABSOLUTELY. There's only 86,400 seconds in a day, why spend it miserable? Get out a fan and have yourself some fun! But seriously, anything can happen and life is short, I hope you have the courage to live the life you want to live.
5. Dreams do come true.
Need I say more?
