If you have been one of those fortunate people in the world to own, or have owned a dog, you know what it's like. Every time you came home, there they were, running up to you, happy to see you without fail. They were always there for you, no matter what kind of day it had been for them in doggy world. Dogs are one of life's greatest gifts, and should be taken as such -- along for the ride of life. If you owned a dog, or love them, you can be guilty of doing these five things:

1. You never fail to ask others to pet their dog.

Yes, it's true. It takes all of your restraint not to run up to every dog you see on the street and take it home with you. There is something so fun about meeting new dogs and new people. Plus, if their human was just as nice, you got to chat for a few moments and meet a new person. Win-win.

2. You tended to go in their direction during a social gathering.

Rule #1: when in doubt, pet the dog. The will never ask you awkward questions about relationships or school, or whether you liked their cabbage casserole. Dogs will just love you. Plus they can help you hide if needed.

3. You have already named the future dogs you'll have.

As your friends were planning their children's' names, you got going with all the possibilities names of furry friends you could have. This was more fun anyway; you couldn't name a child Captain America. Or names that matched personality, like Sassy. But with dogs, you can. And it's awesome.

4. You have adventures planned for you and your dogs ahead of time.

Going hiking? Bring your dog. Eating? They do that too. Swimming? Ditto. There is no limit to the adventures you and your canine companion can have together. Having a dog with you adds to the joy you can have while on the trail and enjoying a snack. Dogs just make everything better.

5. You'd planned on having a family of dogs since you were little.

It seems as though we were raised on a healthy diet of dogs and fun way back when. Dogs were never not around your house, and you knew you wanted to give that to your family one day too.

Dogs are pretty great things that life has given us. Studies have shown that owning and even petting a dog can ease stress and add to pleasure of living. It has also been shown and told to me that having a dog around improves mental comfort and security. Plus they provide companionship and consistent love. What more could you want?

If you have a dog, you rock. If not, go get one. You'll be so very glad you did.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
