You've taken her for granted until now. Every meal, every clean pair of pants, and every bowl of chicken noodle soup has probably been overlooked because it's just what she did for you. But now you're out on your own and doing things for yourself, and you realize just how much you miss her.
1. The food
Let's be real here, caf food tends to be hit or miss. Mostly miss. After enough days roll by of having the exact same sandwich, or bypassing the giant lines and going straight to the cereal station you begin longing for a nice home cooked meal. One, preferably, that is edible and has some flavor to it.
2. When you get sick
When you get sick in college you tend to be on your own completely. You're roommate won't come within 10 feet of you because they refuse to get sick, and honestly you make yourself worse by going to classes that you can't afford to miss. You no longer have mommy to call and make doctor appointments for you, go out and get you medicine, or make you chicken noodle soup. It's times like these when you question why you left home.
3. You have to do your own laundry
While laundry isn't the hardest thing I've ever done, it is the most time consuming. I tend to wait until I'm completely out of clothes before I finally do my laundry, and then my loads are so big they take me half an hour to fold. And of course I run out of clothes when I have multiple things due for my classes the next day.
4. You have to shop for yourself
Honestly, I can't count the amount of times I've walked around a store searching for one thing before I call my mother, who can tell me right where the thing is. I feel like it's her super power. Plus I can never remember to write everything down on a list which means that I always forget something, ending with me going to a grocery store multiple times because I don't know how to make a list.
5. No one is her
No matter how many friends you talk to, no one is as good of a sounding board as your mom.
