I feel like ever since I began college two and a half years ago, I've been having problems with my skin, something I wasn't all that accustomed to in high school. It may be the stress from school and a busy life, or just hormones and the occasional bad snack. Either way, I've been making some changes and have been witnessing some pretty amazing results, here's five changes I've made that have led me to better skin.
1. Use Primers
Makeup primers act as a barrier between your foundation and your pores. Not only do they help your foundation apply smoother and last longer, but it can also help to prevent your sponge-like pores from absorbing all that makeup. Try looking for one with SPF for an added bonus.
2. Try Biotin
I'm not one for taking a vitamin or a pill for every quirk in my life, but I do have to say that taking biotin everyday has really helped improve the appearance of my skin and hair. (You can find it at any drugstore or supermarket.) You're not going to get an overnight result, so give it 2-3 weeks to kick in and you'll definitely see some changes.
3. Drink As Much Water As Possible
Something we hear day in and day out but it's usually easier said than done. I've been forcing myself to drink about one (average sized) bottle of water an hour, and I feel so much better- my skin has also thanked me, too.
4. Exfoliate More Often
I have combo skin which I feel like really means I have the worst of both worlds. Anyway, I've been using a scrub about two times a week (opposed to a few times a month) and have had an overall more-balanced complexion/skin type.
5. Wash Your Brushes!!!
I used to be SO guilty of not cleaning my brushes as often as I should. Now, I make it a priority to clean the ones I've used three times a week. It's not the most exciting thing to do, I know, but I promise you'll have less breakouts and better looking brushes.
