2016 is coming to an end and there are a lot of things that have happened this year. Each month seemed to have a different meme that got taken out of control, it was a big year for the election, and even the challenges have gone super crazy this year. So here are some of the big things that have happened in 2016 to recap the year.

1. Trump was elected the next U.S. president.

This year has been a bad year for election history. Many are against Trump and what he supports, many were against Hillary, and somehow the country let Bernie get out of the race. Now we all wait as Trump gets into office next year and find out where he will be taking us. Lets hope that the next 4 years won't be as bad as this one.

2. Memes, Memes everywhere

I swear that this was a crazy year for memes. Every month seemed to be a different one and they got crazier and crazier each month. Not even kidding. People made them everywhere. You could not get on Facebook, Twitter or anything without them being all over the place. You wonder how people kept up with them so much.

3. The amount of Famous people that died this year.

Way to many famous people died this year and it was crazy. Alan Rickman, Prince, or just someone that touched out hearts, passed away. How much more can America lose? Now if 2017 can go better and let us not lose anymore that would be great. I mean how much more can we lose? We already lost Robin Williams.

4. The 2016 Summer Olympics!

I am not a big Olympics fan, but hey it is the Olympics! Plus it was the summer one. So that means swimming, running, biking, all the things most of wish we could do, but we just watch it on TV. No matter what though, you cheer for your country. U.S.A or if you decide that another country is worth your cheering you do it!

5. The Cubs won the World Series!

I mean this was the big one this year! I mean Go Cubbies!! This was HUGE!!! If you a Cubs fan you got excited that after 100 of no World series win, this was the time to celebrate. Now everyone is going to be turning into a Cubs fan. Don't forget to get your loved ones a World Series Cubs things this year if you know someone that loves them. Never know, might be another 100 something years before they win again.

Over all 2016 has been an interesting year. Things happened, we cried a little bit, some of us celebrated. It has been a long year. All in all, we learned some lessons. Now lets hope 2017 will be a better year for us. I know I would like to see some up sides.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
