Going away for school definitely has its perks and its downsides. As college students, we know how hard it is sometimes to get through the semester and when summer finally starts we could not be happier to see our parents pull up outside our dorms and throw our things in the back of their cars. Unfortunately, that care free summer feeling typically lasts for about a month, if you're lucky. Soon enough you're itching to get back to your school and the second life you had. If you're a college student here are a few things you have felt during the summer.
1. Missing your freedom
Of course, Mom and Dad are amazing and nothing changes the love you have for them, but there are some days you would rather not hear them nag you about going out for the third day in a row. At school, no one kept tabs on you, but being under your parents' roof, you have to play by their rules.
2. Lack of productivity
At school you were always doing something. Whether that be studying for your next big test, watching a basketball game, or going to a party, you always had plans. Being home, you tend to find yourself sitting on your couch watching your fifth episode of Gossip Girl and it's only 3 p.m.
3. Balancing your time
Because you've spent a year away from home there's a lot of catching up you need to do. Between hanging out with friends from home, spending time with your parents, working and taking summer classes, you really have to budget your time. But hey, if you could study for you calc final and still finish that last season of "The Office," you can do anything!
4. Missing your campus
Oh home away from home, how we miss your gorgeous sights. Sure, we forget how beautiful our schools are when we spend every day there, but sometimes catching a glimpse of one of our buildings from an Instagram post hits a little too hard.
5. Knowing your time is limited
As much as we miss our schools, summer is too bittersweet. Between only spending a couple of months at home with the people and place we love and knowing another year at our school is going to go by, the knowledge that time is flying is too apparent. There's not a lot you can do aside from love the moment you're living in and enjoy what's happening as much as you can.
