5 Things That Are True When You Are A Sock Enthusiast

Everyone has something they love so much that they just have to start a collection. Whether it be coins, movies, bottles of wine or Beanie Babies, almost everyone has something that they collect. For many people, myself included, socks are a collectible. Here are just a few of the things that hold true when you are a sock enthusiast like me:

1. You can never have enough

This may be true for any collector or enthusiast, but it is especially true for socks. No matter what store I end up in, the first thing I look for is socks. No matter how many times as I haven't discovered a new pair at the grocery store I will always check every aisle just to make sure. At this point a lot of people would say I have more than enough socks, seeing that I can go for at least two months without ever wearing the same pair twice; but, every pair of socks in my collection serves their purpose and some are more useful for certain occasions than other socks. This brings me to my next point...

2. You have socks for every occasion

This is probably the one that holds most true. With so many different holidays and events, there are socks to go with each one. Going to watch the big game? There's socks for that:

You probably can't read it, but these socks feature bears that are waving flags which read: "Go" and "Team." Trust me, I own these socks, and they are great for cheering on any team at any time. But perhaps you have a specific team that you want to cheer for. Don't worry, there are socks for every sports team that ever existed, though you only buy the ones for your favorite team:

However, sporting events aren't the only special occasions. If you were like me this Valentine's Day, you made up for being single with your socks:

These socks aren't just for Valentine's Day either. If you go out to the club or a party, "Check Me Out" socks are great for letting everyone know you are single and ready to mingle, not to mention that they make a great pun. Then, of course, there are socks for different seasons:

There are many more occasions and events, each with a relevant pair of socks, but for now let's continue with the list...

3. You don't mind getting socks as a gift

Remember when you were little and getting clothes were the worst thing ever? Well now you have something to look forward to when unwrapping presents. At this point it is easier to tell friends and family which socks I don't have rather than show them all the socks not to get me.

4. You have a favorite brand

For me, it's Mossimo. Every few weeks they come out with a new collection available at Target. Half of the socks I've shown so far in this article are socks made by Mossimo and I do, in fact, own all of them. There are many other companies that make socks such as Socks Appeal, Sock Dreams and Nice Laundry, but my favorite is still the one that started it all for me.

5. Money is no object

As a college student, money is most definitely an object. But, when it comes to socks, everything I know about saving money goes out the window. Friends will ask to go out and most of the time my response is: "I don't have the money for that." Yet, I somehow always have the money for socks.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
