Ever wondered what the heck that spiky brush is on the end of your eyebrow pencil? Or what those cheap wands at Sephora are good for beyond the makeup counter?

Well, my friends, this brush is formally called and "spoolie" and it can be your best friend if you know how to use it to its full potential.

1. Tame baby hairs and fly-aways

Ever put your hair up in a perfect pony tail, but your baby hairs and unruly strands ruin the look? Put some hairspray on your spoolie and brush through those hairs! The spoolie is small enough to perfectly get those small areas and can put the right amount of product on your hair without making it overly crunchy and noticeably hair sprayed.

2. Clean up mascara mistakes

It's always awesome when you put effort into your eye look and start putting on your mascara! But it's not so awesome when half of it gets on your eyelid instead of your lashes (we've all been there).

But fear not, your look can be saved! Just wait for the mascara to dry for a few minutes and brush it off with, you guessed it, a spoolie. It'll crumble right off and your eye will look like nothing ever happened! Just make sure to do it after it dries so the wet mascara doesn't smear.

3. Clean up liquid eyeshadow

I have recently been really into applying liquid eyeshadow with a doe foot applicator this summer, but the downside is that it always transfers from my lid to my crease! To clean up, I wait for the eyeshadow to dry and run the spoolie along my crease to get rid of the extra shadow. Like the mascara, it should crumble once ran across with a brush and come right off.

4. Un-clump your lashes

If you're as picky with your mascara as I am, you know that it's the worst when you are going for a voluminous look but your lashes won't stop tangling together. To fix this, grab a dry spoolie and run it through your lashes to get rid of the clumps and tangles. This works better than a wet mascara wand because the dry brush will take off excess product and allow your lashes to separate instead of clump further from the mascara's moisture.

5. And obviously, get your brows on fleek

One of the most popular ways to use a spoolie is as an eyebrow brush, where you can brush through the hairs before filling them in. Spoolies are oftentimes attached to eyebrow pencils and paired with brow pomades. Using one of these will filling in your brows will help make the pigment disperse evenly, making the brow look more "natural" and faded out. In addition to this, you can also spray your spoolie with setting spray and set your brows to make sure they don't move throughout the day, like the baby hair and fly away hack listed above.

Now you're all experts on this magical tool! Comment below if you found this helpful, and spoolie away!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
