Having crazy hair can be such a struggle; it often feels like you and your hair are at war. Here are a few problems people with crazy hair encounter.
1. Bedhead is very real.
Waking up to your hair in a giant knot, sticking up in the back, or curling in an odd place is common. When you don't have major bedhead after waking up, it's a huge shock. Some people say that they don't even need to brush their hair before they leave the house. You laugh when you hear this because if you left your house without brushing your hair, you'd look pretty insane.
2. It takes forever just to get your hair to look halfway decent.
Your hair just won't cooperate with you. Forget getting ready in 15 minutes; you need 15 minutes just to do your hair! This can include using hairspray, finishing creme, and anything else needed to control it. When you need to get ready in a hurry, someone may say, "Oh, just put your hair in a ponytail!" Even this is a struggle and can take a long time; it seems like your hair always forms bumps when you do so. And styling your hair? Forget it. Straightening or curling your hair will take forever to do and probably won't last very long (or at least not without the help of a bottle of hairspray).
3. Your hair and the weather are enemies.
It always seems like the weather is out to get your hair. Humidity and rain makes it frizz or poof, and the wind tangles it. Even if your hair starts out looking decent, just a couple of steps outside can make it look really crazy; this is especially true if you are from the Midwest, since the weather is constantly changing here. There is a silver lining, though; you can use your hair to predict the weather. If I wake up and my hair is extra frizzy, that means it's either really humid out or raining, which helps me plan my outfit for the day.
4. Good hair days are few and far between.
Usually you expect to wake up to messy hair that will end up being thrown in a bun or ponytail, or will require at least half an hour of styling before it looks presentable. However, there are those rare times where you wake up and see that your hair looks good as is. When you have a good hair day like that, you know it's going to be a good day.
5. Even though you have a love-hate relationship with your hair, you've learned to love it.
After years of having crazy hair, I've learned to just embrace it. I don't try to straighten it every day or put it in a ponytail anymore; as long as it doesn't look too crazy, I'll just leave it down and only add some anti-frizz creme. While you may never have smooth, picture-perfect hair, your crazy hair is a part of who you are, and you love it. Just accept your crazy hair and try not to let it bother you too much on bad hair days.
