5 Things NOT To Do As A College Student On Summer Break

Congratulations you've made it one more year through school.

Many of us will be working five to six days a week but that doesn't mean we don't have some sort of life during the summer. While there are many things that need to be done over summer break such as doctors and dentist appointments lets talk about what you wanna do. Most college kids will try to get off of work and immediately go to any kind of party or head up to the boardwalk. We all just want to have fun before we've got to go back to work and later on school.

Go nuts guys and gals but let's set down five rules of what not to do to keep the party going.

1. Don't get back with your ex from home

They seem so much more mature after spending a year working right? They finally have enough money not to be considered a deadbeat too. Your mom or dad is still rooting for them because they seemed like they were going places but you knew better. Rember the reasons why you left them in the first place and try to find a better summer fling to fling in their face if your paths should ever cross.

2. Don't spend all your time at home on your days off

Work can be draining especially when you're pulling long hours so the desire to stay indoors watching Netflix is very real. Let's be real the more time you spend at home the more low energy you'll be for when you have to go back. Even just going out to see a movie and spend some time catching up with friends from home will help keep you happier at work. Don't be afraid of making plans even if you can only hang out for a few hours here and there.

3. Don't forget to spend time with family

Although we may have changed our opinions on political policies or even if you are just more vocal about them you shouldn't let differing opinions stop you from having a connection with your family. Who knows, they may surprise you. You've changed, even if it's mostly insignificant, so whos to say if they haven't as well.

4. Don't revert back to the person you were

Being back at home can make us remember how we used to be but that doesn't mean you should change your behavior to match old surroundings or people. Any practices you've picked up over this oast semester I implore you to continue doing them. Trying to better yourself over the past year is your choice and if you've found something that works keep moving forward with it and reach your goal.

5. Don't drop everyone you've met this past year

If you've miraculously managed to make friends with good people over the past few months and they treat you right don't forget them. it's difficult to keep up with people as you've found trying to keep up with people from home but hopefully, you've mastered this if only a little. Good luck over the next few months everyone, take care of yourself over the next three months.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
