1. Thank you for the little things you did that made school feel like home.
Sometimes the little things in life get overlooked but are usually the best things about life. On the first day of school, a teacher might have done something as small as put a single piece of candy on your desk or greeted you with a smile, but did you ever thank them? Most likely not. These little things teachers do are often overlooked by their students. Even though the students do not always verbalize it, they usually do appreciate it.
2. Thank you for believing in me.
Sometimes teachers do something as small as a slight smile to give me confidence during an exam or something as big as offering a retake on a test that I was obviously not prepared for but thank you for instilling confidence in me. Having someone there to tell you that you are going to be ok during stressful times or being happy for you during prosperous times makes a huge difference in a person’s life.
3. Thank you for always being energetic and passionate.
Waking up early, working long hours, and dealing with admiration can be absolutely exhausting. For the teachers that wake up every morning, cheerfully make their way into work after a commute, and still have the energy and passion to teach, I applaud you. Some content can be difficult and sometimes very unappealing to students, but teachers find a way to make it exciting and easy to understand for their students. These are the teachers that every school needs.
4. Thank you for keeping me updated and educated on current events.
A person spends a long time in school. During that time, the world is constantly changing and that change does not come easily for all people. Sometimes that change is hard to understand especially for younger children. Classroom teachers are always answering questions, expected and unexpected. Teachers are also a great resource for students to learn about what is going on in the world. After all, teachers are constantly teaching their students new information so they are the perfect people to explain an ever-changing world.
5. Thank you for all of the work you did outside the classroom.
Between their first and last class of the day, teachers are working hard and doing their jobs efficiently in the classroom. What most people do not realize, however, is the large amount of time that teachers have to spend outside of the classroom to stay prepared and organized. Creating lesson plans, grading papers, decorating their rooms, etc., are all things that teachers do outside of the classroom. Everyone can see what teachers are doing inside of the school, but teachers usually do not receive the recognition they deserve for their work outside of the classroom.
