5 Things My Older Sister Needs to Know

Sometimes you drive me nuts, but I will always love and believe in you.

5 Things My Older Sister Needs to Know

Let's be real.....you're a real pain in my butt! I love you more than life itself but sometimes you drive me up a wall. We butt heads because we are opposites; that will never change. Now that I have that out of the way, I also want you to know that you are one of my favorite people ever, you are my older sister! In a crazy world that is going to try and knock you down, I want you know these five things:

1. You are beautiful.

Please don't ever let the world convince you that you are not. People will try and tell you otherwise, but I am here to tell you that you are beautiful. If you believed that as much as I do you could conquer any room you walk into. You have outer beauty but you also have inner beauty, and I think that means more than anything. Your spirit is beautiful and I hope you never let anyone take that from you.

2. You are smart.

You have always been the "smart one" out of the two of us. You still amaze me because you always seem to know everything about everything. You retain information so well and always blow people away because you usually are smarter than then. Again, I hope you never let people convince you that you are dumb -- you are anything but that.

3. No matter what, I will always be your biggest supporter.

We fight over almost everything and you drive me crazy but even during those times I will always be your #1 supporter. No matter what you decide to do with your life I will always be here for you. I don't always show it because honestly, I don't really know how, but I promise I will always be there for you.

4. Never let the world put out your fire.

The world can be such a negative and mean place; please don't ever let that bring you down. I truly believe that you could do anything you set your mind to, you could totally run this country if you wanted. But if you let the world put out your fire people will never see how truly amazing you are.

5. You are stronger than you will ever know.

I have known you my whole life (DUH), and even though both of us never want to admit it, I know you better than anyone. I know that you are so much stronger than you will ever give yourself credit for. Please never doubt your strength and what you can do.

We are complete opposites, we fight about everything, and let's be real we don't look anything alike. We have different views on the world and different views on right and wrong. We didn't choose the same life paths nor did we make the same life changing decisions. With all of that said I can truly say my life would not be the same without you. You have helped shape me into the crazy person I am today. Without your sweet soul I wouldn't be me. Love you lots big SISTER!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
