The 5 Things I Missed The Most After Deleting All My Social Media Apps

Don't do this to yourself!

This year I went through a major life-changing experience. I decided to delete all my social media apps–and yes, that includes Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram. I figured that if I deleted all these apps that maybe I would focus more on school and get my work done earlier, but–spoiler alert–I only lasted two weeks! Though I was productive, I felt so empty without all the apps.

So here are some of the things I missed the most:

1. Beyoncé's iconic Instagram posts.

Beyoncé usually posts at least two times and week and every picture she posts slays. My favorite ones are the little videos showing her OOTN or when Blue Ivy makes an appearance, that's when you know it's going to be extra good. Not being able to see her posts for two weeks was hard because, let's face it, whenever she posts your feed is blessed.

2. Missing the updates brought to you by Snapchat.

I missed reading Daily Mail and watching E! News' "The Rundown"! Yes, I am that person who actually reads Daily Mail and, I mean, come on. We all do! How else would we know that Kim Kardashian is making Kanye West sign up for the gym?!?!

Also, E! News' "The Rundown" is the best thing out there. I missed watching Erin Lim summarize all that is going on in entertainment in less than three minutes, and especially all the background effects they use. They are amazing!

3. TWEETS. TWEETS. TWEETS.

We all have that one friend who tweets and retweets some of the funniest stuff that makes you smile so hard. All my DMs are filled with my friends sending me funny tweets and, after coming back after two weeks, my DMs were flooded. Twitter is honestly amazing and the stuff that people come up with is so funny. I'm never taking it for granted ever again!

4. Scrolling through your timeline and seeing a finsta post.

My favorite thing is scrolling through my Instagram and seeing artsy pictures of someone on vacation and then all of a sudden...BAM there's a close up of someone's face and the caption is a huge rant about how Taco Bell is life. Finsta posts are best things ever! People don't think about the filters or if the caption is witty enough. It's just your time to rant away and let it all out. BRB while I make a finsta post about loving finstas.

5. That feeling you get when you are tagged in a meme.

Getting tagged in a meme would be the highlight of my day, so this was by far the thing I missed the most! My Facebook would send me emails saying, "You have been tagged in a meme," and it was honestly the saddest thing ever because I could not see the actual meme. So next time you convince yourself to delete Facebook, don't do it because not being able to see memes is not a life you want to be living!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
