5 Things I'm Currently Mad About

There's so much to rant about, and I simply couldn't pick just one.

Please enjoy my five mini political rants.

1. Trump's post-hospitalization comments about COVID-19.

He really said not to let COVID-19 dominate our lives as if any person has chosen this. As if 200,000+ Americans haven't died from it. As if everyone in the country has access to the same type of healthcare he received. As if people haven't been dying alone and in pain because of this virus and lack of access to adequate, affordable healthcare.

2. Trump stopping negotiations on a new COVID-19 stimulus package.

The government gave some people $1,200 in April and thought that would fix everything. It's been six months and no further support has been given to the American people. Now, Trump is attempting to stop a new stimulus package from being passed until after the election, essentially trying to blackmail Americans into voting for him in order to receive life-saving financial assistance.

3. Amy Coney Barrett's SCOTUS nomination.

I disagreed with Republicans preventing Obama from appointing a new SCOTUS judge EIGHT MONTHS before the election, but now they refuse to follow their own precedent ONE MONTH before the election as early voting has already begun... Hypocrites. Also, the audacity of trying to replace a champion of women's rights with Amy Coney Barrett, who would gladly reverse all of RBG's contributions to women's rights. This appointment also threatens the Affordable Care Act and Roe v Wade. We really are about to see changes that will set civil rights back decades because of a bunch of power-hungry, hypocritical, privileged white men.

Oh, and Amy Coney Barrett is also violently homophobic.

4. Thomas and Alito wanting to reverse Obergefell v Hodges.

It's 2020 and people still want to use religion as an excuse to be bigots? Come on! Justices Thomas and Alito wanting to make gay marriage unconstitutional in the name of religious freedom is homophobic, heinous and despicable. All we want is to be able to marry who we want and love freely. Is that really too much to ask for?

5. The fact that I have to vote for Joe Biden.

I will never get over the fact that this presidential election has come down to two old, white, racist men who are also accused sexual predators. Really? This is the best we could do? The fact that I have to vote for Joe Biden because he's the more progressive choice is a joke and infuriating. All I want is a president who will actually care about people. Apparently that's too much to ask for.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

From sea to shining sea, the United States was uniquely positioned for an incredible Aurora Borealis display on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, going into Friday, Oct. 11.

It was the second time this year after an historic geomagnetic storm in May 2024. Those Northern Lights were visible in Europe and North America, just like this latest rendition.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
