5 Things To Listen To While Walking To Class

You could watch Netflix, but you might run into a pole or something.

Now we all know the drill... walking around campus? Throw in your headphones and jam to some tunes. Now of course sometimes you have the occasional walking buddy or the sounds of nature are particularly interesting to you that day. However... sometimes you just have to keep to yourself and get your booty to class.

I wish as much as the next person that we could throw on some Netflix and watch our fave shows on the way to lecture, but that might cause some foot-traffic-congestion (or even worse you could run into a pole or something, ya know?)

Here are five different things you could listen to on your way to conquer the world (or your 10 AM):

1. Playlists to match your mood

Sure, music is the obvious choice here. But have you ever tried matching your music to your mood? Spotify is especially good for this. Need some "Wake up happy" music to help you get your sluggish self to your 8 AM? Need a pump-up motivation playlist to get you ready for that exam? From those to everything in between, just type it in the search bar.

2. Podcasts are making a comeback

So everyone and their mother seems to be making a podcast these days, which is good because that means there's sure to be something that peaks your interest! Podcasts have certainly become one of my favorite things to listen to while walking around campus. It's almost like you have company in your headphones (weird?). Anyway, Serial is a very popular one that's all about solving crimes, so if you are a Law and Order or Criminal Minds fanatic...this is right up your alley. I love Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe and Your Favorite Thing with Brandi Cyrus and Wells Adams. Kaitlyn and Wells are both "Bachelor" alum so they talk about that, but they are both very entertaining.

3. Audio books

If you're an avid reader, *cough cough* not me *cough cough* you could take your favorite books with you on the go! Maybe if you get lucky one of the textbooks you forgot to read has an audio version...fingers crossed.

4. Youtube your favorite comedian

Now we all know that sometimes in college you have to laugh so that you don't start crying. Block out all the stress with some good ole' fashion comedy.

5. Call someone!

Mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, bff, boyfriend, girlfriend: the possibilities are endless. Take the opportunity of the 5 or so minutes of free time to catch up with a loved one. Sometimes, I feel weird talking into the mic on my headphones because I think it looks like I'm talking to myself. Nevertheless, everyone does it, so LET THERE BE NO SHAME!!

I hope this short list gave you ideas for something new to listen to. Happy walking, everyone!

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
