5 Things I Learned From Beauty Gurus
socialactions.com

It is no secret that I love love love YouTube. I could waste whole days watching beauty videos. I watch beauty gurus and people who are normal everyday people like me. I never have claimed to know what I was doing when it came to makeup. I honestly have no clue what I am doing most of the time. I like to watch the people who know what they are doing so that maybe one day I will have the skills to make my face look flawless like they do. Here are 5 things I have learned from binge watching YouTube beauty gurus.

1. Concealer goes over foundation.

This one makes me seem a little dumb, I know. Okay, let's be real here. I see concealer and think "this goes on first to cover up my pimples". I in no way would have thought that you put concealer on after foundation, because why not cover your blemishes first?

2. Eyeshadow primer is key.

I do not claim to be great at makeup but I think I can make my eyeshadow look pretty good. Eyeshadow has always been my favorite makeup product. I love doing my eyes and making them pop. I also notice that after a few hours there are lines on my eyelids from my eyeshadow. Until recently I had no clue why this was. Its because you should use a primer to make everything stick better and stay in place. WHAT?! Never knew this...

3. Lip Primer.

Another type of primer, I know. I honestly only knew about foundation primer until not too long ago. Growing up I remember my grandma putting on chapstick before her lipstick so that's what I thought you did. Well now we have actual lip primer and I am still not sure what the difference is but ,eh who cares?

4. Baking.

The first time I heard this in a video I honestly thought that it was a joke. Like "oh now it's time to bake". I was so confused but then I heard it more and more and I was really confused. What the heck does this mean? Now I could be wrong but from what I've gathered it is when you put a powder under your eyes to help set that area and then after a few minutes, you brush it off... Uh ok.

5. Contouring

Contouring is still a little bit foreign to me. I don't really get how to do it and what colors to use for each step. I know this is something that a lot of people are doing and I just don't get it. Sure it sculpts your face and brings out features but it seems like a lot of work to make it look good. Some people fail at it and look like my three year old sister did their make-up. I seriously just do not understand the whole process.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
