All throughout senior year, it was as if the whole senior body was just waiting for school to end so they can adventure into college. The college application season was the most stressful, but it was the college admission process that had everyone on edge. Tears were shed for whatever reason but for the most part, everyone was simply excited just to leave high school.
College is seen as a new journey where one is able to meet new friends, get closer to their occupation goals, have a new experience in a broader setting where anything seems possible, but there’s a lot that high school seniors don’t necessarily realize is going to happen once they go to a CSU or UC.
1.You can’t go out to eat as much.
You're already dropping money over $500 on textbooks, school supplies, and college essentials which includes getting food in bulks from Costco. And even though going out to eat at In-N-Out seems or get takeout seems tempting, you'll love yourself more for saving money and dealing with the food served in the dining hall instead.
2. You can’t get up as easily at 7 AM college time as you did high school time
You may have spent the last 4 years waking up at 7 AM, but not anymore. Even getting up for your 10 AM class will feel as if you have super glue shutting your lids together.
3. It’s harder to hang out with people.
In high school everyone had the same schedule so it was easy to hang out during lunch and after school. In college, some people may have five classes a day while others may only have one. It’s difficult to arrange a good time to hang out with others because schedules will often not line up.
4. You won’t know your whole class like you did in high school.
At the very least, you’ll get to talk to the person sitting next to you but hardly will you ever know the people that sat in the rows behind you. Everyone is in a ‘get in’ ‘get out’ mode for the class.
5. Just because you picked your classes to fit your schedule doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy wanting to go to all of them.
Even if you took classes you were interested in, doesn’t mean you’ll always want to go to them whether it’s because you’re busy or just feeling lethargic. It almost seems tedious having to pick up all of your belongings and go to a class across the school just for an hour or two when your bed is calling your name.
