Well, it has officially been 10 years since the very first episode of "Hannah Montana" aired on Disney Channel. Like many teenagers that spent their nights watching this fabulous show, we are thinking how it has already been 10 years since we met Miley, Lilly, Oliver, and Jackson? During the five years that we got to know these charismatic characters, we realize that there are lessons to be learned.
1. Nobody's perfect.
That’s right, Hannah Montana isn’t even perfect. Although as human beings, we strive to achieve this goal, we know that it will not ever be attained. The best thing that we can do is to do our best and do our own thing.
2. Life’s what you make it.
There can only be one driver in your life, and that has to be you. The title of this all-important song says it all. If you want to have a happy, fun-filled life, you need to go out there and create it yourself. Surround yourself with people that make you laugh. Go out with your girls on a weeknight when you know you have a test in the morning. Besides, that is what memories are made of.
3. One in a million.
During the series of "Hannah Montana," Miley mentions several times that she is a one in a million. That quote isn’t just applying to her, though; it applies to all of us. You will never find two people alike. You can try all you want, but it will never happen. We are each unique, and those differences that set us apart from others is what makes us special. Embrace your uniqueness, because no one else has what you do.
4. Butterfly fly away.
There comes a point in everyone’s life that it is time to move on and grow up, and as scary as that may sound, it is a part of life that is inevitable -- whether you are moving away to college, getting married or just going through life. It is supposed to happen. And when you feel lost just know...
5. You can always find your way back home.
“You can change your hair; you can change clothes.” At some point in everyone’s life they are going to feel lost, and during those times, they will question who they are. Just know that when these moments happen, you will be okay, and you will get back to the person you know yourself to be. That is home. Home doesn’t have to be a place. Home is a feeling.
Having "Hannah Montana" and all of her friends to grow up with was the best feeling. While these characters were fictitious, to the fans they weren’t. We grew up with them. WE felt the same. We went through first love and heartbreak, good and bad choices, and high school with them. I remember watching the series finale and coming to school the next day and talking about the show with my friends. We all cried. It was so final.
I believe finding a show that the youth of today can grow with is a very difficult, but lucky for us, we got blessed with "Hannah Montana."
