5 Truths For The People That Have Too Much Stuff

In a generation consumed by having a lot of “stuff,” there are some of us that are a little extra special. No, I am not talking about hoarders. I am talking about the people that carry around heavy “Marry Poppins” bags and have their dorm room beds raised to the ceiling so they can fit all of their prized possessions underneath it. Here are five things they all know to be very true:

1.You had one sweaty dad on move-in day.

Not only was he sweating because of the realization of how much money he is paying for you to go to the university, he was also sweating from carrying your multiple suitcases, that comfy lounge chair, shoe racks, overflowing bins in every color, and storage trunks up four flights of stairs. And maybe one little extra drop of sweat for the amount of money he paid for you to get all that stuff. Yes Dad, all of those shoes are necessary.

2. You have been told one too many times that your bag is too heavy.

OK guys, the “What is that? A Mary Poppins bottomless bag?” joke is a little old. And the comment about how your back is going to be out of alignment for carrying around your bag all the time is a little trite, too. Everything in that bag is incredibly necessary, and you will gladly hold it on your shoulder close to your heart.

3. You are always the person that everyone runs to when they need something; and you always have it.

“Do you have a nail file, Band-Aid, water, gum, or a tissue for my issue?” Since you are such a nice person, you always end up giving your friend what they need, but sometimes you are guilty of the occasional eye roll.

4. You have a small emotional attachment to some of your stuff.

No matter how many times people tell you that you do not need all of that stuff, you find another reason why you need to keep it. You live by the motto “You never know!” And when your friends ask you to hold the stuff they are emotionally attached to like car keys, wallets, and sunglasses, you end up holding that, too.

5. You know exactly where everything is.

Some people will not be able to find anything among all of your stuff. However, you are incredibly organized and know exactly in what direction to point them. You might be the kind that has everything color-coded and labeled. Or maybe you are the kind that has everything in piles around your room, but you still know exactly where to find everything. No matter how you store all of your stuff, it is all very important and necessary to your life.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
