If you're a senior in high school, you're almost done. You've made it through 75% of your high school career, and you're probably very excited to graduate and move forward with your life. While that is most definitely a positive outlook on your future, there are quite a few thoughts that you should keep in mind as you take on your final year.
1. Hang out with your friends as much as you can.
Even though it may seem like you'll always be able to see your high school friends whenever you want, that simply isn't true. After high school, some of your friends will likely go off to college, some will go into the workforce, some may even go into the military. Regardless, what you plan on doing after you graduate, you're going to miss your friends after you graduate, so enjoy the time you have with them.
2. Participate in as many activities and clubs as you feel the need to.
If you're interested in theater, try out for your school play. If you want to play basketball, then try out for your school's basketball team. Anything you've always thought about doing but never went through with trying, go for it. After senior year, especially if you are not planning to attend college, the opportunities to participate in those activities will be much less common than they are right now.
3. Keep an optimistic attitude and leave the past where it belongs.
Don't spend your senior year bummed out because of events that occurred in the past three years. Focus on this year and your future, not the past. If someone makes an attempt to start drama with you and bring you down, just hold your head high and stay positive. Life is too short to be sad over petty people.
4. Let go of past grudges.
There may be some people you have hated throughout all of high school, or some that you have only avoided completely for a short amount of time. When senior year comes around, just forget what happened in the past and try to get to know your classmates. You won't regret it. If it doesn't work out, that's their loss, not yours.
5. Live every day to the fullest, and never take any day for granted.
After you graduate high school, you may never see some of your classmates again. They might move away, or you might just never cross paths with them again. Cherish every moment you spend with them, because for all you know, graduation could be the very last time that you see them.
No matter how much you think you want to graduate, don't let senior fly by without reminiscing on the great memories you had. Rather than focusing on the negative memories, remember the positive ones and look to the future. A new chapter of your life is about to start in less than a year, but don't take your senior year for granted. Your time in high school is almost over, so enjoy it while you still can!
