We all have those days where we just feel like crap about ourselves. It happens, and that's OK, but it's not OK for us to feel like this all the time. It can be hard to feel good about yourself in the society we live in because of all of the social media and ideas that get spread around so quick. But to feel better, we have to get rid of this negativity and start looking at some positive things in our life. This way, we might be able to turn our negatives into positives. So if you're feeling bad, here are five things you can do to start feeling better about yourself and your life.

1. Tell yourself nice things.

It can be easy to wake up and feel like poop, or to look in the mirror and hate what we see. We could walk around just thinking about all the things that aren't going our way and how unlucky we are. Instead of constantly thinking these negative thoughts, start thinking nicely. You feel like crap this morning? At least tell yourself that you're beautiful instead of gross. You might be able to feel better if you think better. When you're doing your daily routine in front of the mirror find some things about yourself that you love, like your smile, and eventually everything you will start to love other parts of yourself, if you just tell yourself so.

2. Tell others nice things.

How can we spread a positive vibe without sharing the love? Don't just tell yourself that you've got good looking hair today, let your neighbor know too! And your friend, your co-worker, or even the stranger on the street. Showing others what you like about them might make them start to feel better about themselves. How cool that we can help each other? If you like someone's personality or their laugh, let them know. Spread the love and the compliments to yourself and others.

3. Be around others who say nice things.

It would be very hard to be positive and say nice things to others if you aren't around people who do the same. If we surround ourselves with positive people and start to shed the negative, we will start feeling more positive. Also, why would you want to be around people that have that negative talk anyway?

4. Try new things.

Try something new to bring some kind of joy into your life. Try that shade of lipstick or a new make-up style. Buy that cute outfit that you weren't sure if you could rock, and rock it! Go somewhere new, that you've never been to before or try that new Asian place down the street. Trying new things open our eyes and widens our experiences, which in turn will start to change our perspectives on things. Just remember that when you try something new to keep an open mind about it, and always find something good in the situation.

5. Eat healthier things.

We can feel better both physically and mentally by fueling our body and taking care of it, by watching what we eat and drink. Water is a great choice because it is so natural and just good for you, even if it doesn't have a "flavor" per se. Our body will thrive off of things that are grown right from our earth like veggies and fruit, and not processed in a factory or made with unnatural substances. But don't forget to eat some ice cream and cheesy fries to help that mental health when you need it, too.

Help yourself and help others by having a positive attitude and a willingness to make yourself feel good, in a healthy way.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
