5 Things International Students Regret

As college students, there are at least a million thoughts that cross the mind every day. Am I failing this class? When will I ever get that internship? Should I take 3 classes or 4 next semester? How long will I be broke? But 1 thought that is extremely painful and yet the most common one is this one- Is it really worth it?All those endless all-nighters and morning classes with half-functioning brain for what? A degree that certifies that you are not totally dumb. True, this degree is indeed very precious to us and especially for triple the value for students who pay triple the tuition. You’re right, I’m talking about the international students. These super ambitious, and quite dumb( in my opinion), species of students are the International Students, of which a living example is- MOI. We work really hard to get the good GPA that would make ourselves and our families proud, to get that degree we are paying our asses off for. But then, 2 of the current richest people in the world, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg were college dropouts, so does a degree really guarantee your success? Okay no, these guys are one-of-a-kind geniuses that shouldn’t be used for comparison. But what about those average and even below-average kids, like you and me, who are living their non-degree life in royalty?

Here are 5 things every 21st-century International student regret:

1. WHY DID I NOT JUST BECOME A YOUTUBER?

In recent years, Youtube has been rising in popularity as being the new hit industry for making money. The sky-high success of the young YouTubers is really astonishing and inspiration for all young people to sit at home and make videos. The highest earning YouTuber PewDiePie , who makes commentary while playing video games in his videos, earns about an approximate 12 million per year and has over 45 million subscribers! All that success from talking while playing? Doesn’t sound like a hard job to me. And now there are hundreds of other YouTubers who make videos, and are getting paid based on their number of subscribers, views and shares. I bet your business school didn’t teach you about this business tactic.

2. I’ll just turn into a makeup blogger

Another huge platform for young enthusiastic money-makers nowadays is the makeup industry! Be it a boy , or girl or a child, everyone is a makeup artist now. The popular ones are sponsored by high-end makeup companies to use these products and advertise them in their videos so that their thousands and millions of loyal followers would get to know about them! Eventually, they get their own makeup labels like Carli Bybel and Tamanna Rowshan, being the big-shots of this trend.

3. Trying your lottery luck

You’re getting the chance to study at a completely foreign land and mingle with people all around the world and explore so many places . How exciting does that sound? More than exciting, these opportunities often makes us feel lucky.yea , lucky to have parents who can pay for all of it. Then how’d you feel when you log in and read a news about someone winning a billion dollars from buying a $5 lottery ticket? Yea, not so lucky after all. The dilemma of spending thousands of dollars on a degree does keep getting bigger after that. Buy a lottery ticket instead of admission?

4. Should have went husband-hunting

Especially if you’re girl in your 20's, it’s a sure shot that you see wedding honeymoon and even baby pictures of your classmates while scrolling down your social media. These girls somehow just completed high school then turned to the elite profession of digging gold. For those naïve minds having trouble to understand the metaphor, they turned housewives to super rich (and probably lonely) old men who keep them resting in heels at their beach-side mansions. And here I am stuck, in the walls of the dormitories.

5. Should have taken care of our bodies.

Munching away your stress on pizza and soda every night during your finals or having cheap Chinese takeout to avoid cooking each night may have taken a toll on your body. Today's society is obsessed with fitness modeling and clean-eating. These people are getting paid just to look good. These are people who are able to flaunt their bodies in any outfit. With the growing amount of agents and agencies, companies are looking for models and are targeting the millennial community. With our heavy course loads and time-saving diets, we ain't making the cut anytime soon.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
