There are many things I wish I did in High School extending far beyond resume building extracurriculars, classes I took, and sports I played. There are somethings that once your diploma is in hand, it is hard to go back and redo or, in some cases, undo.
1. Go To Prom.
If you can't afford it, ask for help. If you think it's stupid, adjust your attitude. And if you've already gone, don't fuss about how you looked or complain about what did or did not happen. Enjoy the time you spent with your classmates, not that you didn't get a good enough Instagram.
2. Make A New Friend.
Every school has kids who sit alone every single day. So instead of going to your regular lunch table, make a beeline to somewhere new. Sit with someone who is alone. Ask them how they are, and just maybe you will make a new friend, or at the very least make someone's day a little brighter.
3. Make Amends.
The girl you give a dirty look to in the hallway? Smile next time. The person you had a falling out with? Say you're sorry. Fix relationships before it is too late, don't leave people on bad terms.
4. Take A Break.
With finals approaching, and project deadlines nearing, understand it's ok to take 5. Go out for ice cream with the friend who's going to college miles away, help your Mother with dinner or go on a walk when the weather is nice. Understand there's more to life than a perfect A.
5. Do Not Let Anyone's Opinion Matter.
With only a few hours, days or weeks left, don't let anyone control your happiness. If they're not bettering your life, they don't need to be in it. The only person you should be changing for is yourself.
