Today

I have a confession: I had never really watched "Gilmore Girls" until this month. Sure, I had seen an episode here and there when it was still on the air - I even had a best friend I high school who was obsessed with the show - but, despite everyone's urging me to watch it, I didn't give in until one Saturday this month when I decided to give the pilot episode a shot. That one episode turned into 12 episodes in one sitting. With the big Netflix premiere coming up, I figure I cannot be the only one who is just now jumping on the bandwagon. Here are 5 things that every "Gilmore Girls" newbie needs to know before he or she tries to binge-watch before the premiere.1.

1. Once You Start, There Is No oGing Back.

Like I said, I watched 12 episodes in one sitting. While you might think that you are one of those people who has self-control when it comes to binge-watching, this show will prove you wrong. So put on something comfy, grab some snacks and settle in. Once you start your journey with the Gilmores you aren't going to want to stop.

2. You Have To Pick A Team.

Even if you're new to the show you must know that Rory has some pretty epic boyfriends. And even though that all have their charms and good points there comes a time where you have to pick a favorite. Be wise with your decision because once you've made it you're committed for 7 seasons. **cough** Team Dean **cough**

3. Get Ready For A Whole Lot Of Pop Culture References.

Part of the Gilmore girl's charm and brilliant dialogue are their amazing pop culture references. Some references are so well known that even your grandma will be able to relate, but others dive into a deep knowledge of the strange and obscure. A word to the wise: you might want to brush up on your early 2000's music and independent films just to be safe.

4. Be Prepared To Ride An Emotional Roller Coaster.

I never thought that I would get so attached to two characters and to care so much about what happens to them. However, this show will suck you in and before you know it you will be crying one minute and laughing the next.

5. Start Packing Your Bags.

The instant you are introduced to the town of Stars Hollow and it's residents you will want to head to the east coast ASAP. It's a charming town where everyone knows each other and who could resist establishments like Doose's Market and Luke's diner?

So, hurry up newbie! If you've never given the show a try you've only got a few days to catch up before the premier of "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" on Netflix.
