5 Things I Wish I Could Tell Younger Me

Maybe it's not too late to take my own advice.

It's always easy to sit in the present and say you should have done this or wish you knew that. Everyone of us consider what our lives would be like if we took the other of the divergent paths. Opportunities were taken, others were dismissed. Regrets are inevitable and its important to remember that the past is the past and we cannot change it. It is written in stone. However, there is times we look back and realize that we realize we made the right choice. We all have a past. If that stone was to suddenly turn to putty, I would make sure to tell my old self a few things.

1. Start saving.

Money goes fast. You don't realize it until you have it, and then a week later, you don't. It goes ten times faster then it rolls in. Start saving what you have and start making more. Work. Stop messing around and get to work. Start saving for retirement. It's expected that you won't be able to retire until you're almost 70. Start saving.

2. Go with your gut.

Being future you, I have the privilege of saying you can be a complete moron when it comes to you're gut feeling. You always ignore it and let me be the first to tell you that more then half the times, you're gut feeling is right. You ended up changing your major like five times only till return to what you always wanted to do. You knew something was going on with "you know what" but you let your head tell you otherwise, somethings are better left unsaid. You ignore the feeling that warned you and you ended up getting burned. Listen to you're gut and you can avoid more then half of the troubles and regrets that fall on me today.

3. Avoid distractions.

Focus on the prize at hand. You set goals but you let things deter you. You are easily distracted and let things get in your head. Isolate yourself and don't forget about what you have to do.

4. Stop trying to grow up.

You engulf yourself with the idea of growing up faster then you need to. Enjoy being a kid. Enjoy high school, don't rush it. It goes by faster then you think so before it's over you might as well stop and look around before the real world hits.

5. Somethings you can't change.

Life isn't a game, you can't choose which ending you want by performing unchangeable and reliable actions. Life is unpredictable, unfair, and random. Somethings you cannot prevent and somethings you cannot do. The reality is that you can't mold this world. You cannot shape it into an image like we used to do with the old Lego sets as kids. We don't have all the pieces and sometimes pieces don't fit.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
