As a college student, Christmas is the best time of the year.
Christmas is the best time of the year for anyone but especially college students because we are real poor. There are plenty of things that we want to find under the tree but these are just a few that our parents look past whether they mean to or just forget what life is like as a poor college kid!
1. A Lot of Comfort Food
Food is a go to for Christmas gifts but food makes the PERFECT gift for college students because we all know that college students need the added extra support from comfort food to get through so many things that college throws us. Comfort food is perfect for getting through finals week, friend drama, never ending study groups in the library, breakups, makeups and everything in between. Let’s be real, we’re poor and food is the easiest way to our hearts.
2. Free subscriptions – Hulu, Spotify, Netflix, Apple Music etc.
All of our money is either going to housing fees, tuition, or sorority/fraternity dues. The worst thing is getting a second to ourselves and not having available but we all want. It’s frustrating when you can’t afford yet another monthly payment for all those subscriptions you desperately want. Buying a subscription for a college student could be the best present to give to truly allow them to enjoy themselves without having to worry about a cost attached to it.
3. T-Shirts
Let’s be real, when do college students actually dress up to go to class? We all show up to class in our big t-shirts and Nike shorts so what better thing to buy a college student. You know that any t-shirt we get will always be put to good use and be worn a number of times throughout the year. And if we’re really being honest, college students are always the best at pulling off a t-shirt for ANY occasion.
4. Enough Money To Pay Off Their Debt
There’s really no explanation that needs to go with this other than the fact that you would probably make them cry happy tears and allow them to stress a little less.
5. Giftcards or cash
A lot of times, students are way to busy with school and don't have enough time to work to make a substantial amount of money. Giftcards are a great present because when we use them we feel like we're not even spending our own money. Cash is even better because it's really not our own money but we can spend it on whatever we really need to get through college, whether that's food, a fun night out with friends or some retail therapy.
