Since the winter semester is coming to an end, that means recruitment is right around the corner!

Structured Recruitment is a stressful time for both sororities and for those going through the recruitment process.

As someone who just recently went through structured recruitment this past fall, I can attest that going through structured recruitment is one of the most stressful things I have ever gone through. Mainly due to the fact that I had no idea what I was getting myself into, and I was not prepared in any way whatsoever.

Looking back on my experience of going through structured recruitment, even though it was hella stressful, I wouldn’t change a thing. Well, maybe besides being a little more prepared for what I was getting myself into.

Anyways, here are 5 Things I Wish I Would Have Known Before Going Through Structured Recruitment!

1. You truly do find life-long friends during recruitment

Even though most of the girls in my Gamma-Rho group ran home to different chapters, spending those four stressful days together, really helped us bond. We were all experiencing the same struggles.

2. You don't have to like everyone in your chapter, but you do have to treat them with respect.

Sure, you’re joining an awesome chapter that you fell in love with during recruitment, but you’re not going to love every single one of your sisters. Which is completely fine, as long as you show them respect and the respect you.

3. Come prepared with a list of questions that will really help you get to know all the different sororities!

After going to each round, conversations become extremely repetitive and boring. Don’t be afraid to print out a list of questions or conversation starters! It will make structured recruitment a lot more interesting and will help you get to know the sororities better

4. It's not the end of the world if a sorority you loved didn't call you back.

Sure, it sucks for a minute, but there are other sororities out there who would love to have you be in their chapter!

5. Make your own assumptions about a sorority

Just because your best friend hates one of the sororities, doesn’t mean you have to. Find your own chapter to run home to, based off of your own assumptions! It’ll make recruitment a whole lot easier when doing preferences.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
