November. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and we are all anxiously waiting to eat turkey, ham, pumpkin pie and be surrounded by our loved ones. Although we should always be thankful for what we have, we should take this month to emphasize what we are thankful for. Here are the top 5 things I am thankful for.

1. Family

This year I lost my grandmother to cancer, however, I am thankful for the time I had with her. Her passing also made me realize how blessed I am to have both of my parents because as they get older, their time becomes limited. I am also thankful for my sisters and my nieces who brighten my day when I am feeling down. Family is the most important thing to me because without them I wouldn't be here. Thank you to all of my family for the love and support I need to make it through college and life in general. Thank you, mom and dad, for listening to my rants about how stressed I am. Thank you, sisters, for putting up with me when I am grumpy. Thank you, family. I love you.

2. Friends

To the friends who stayed in touch after high school, the friends who I met through work, and the friends who I met in college! To the ones who I do not talk to daily but when we do it is like nothing has changed, thank you! Thank you for making me laugh when I could barely smile and thank you for keeping me in check when I was slacking off. Thank you for all those fun memories and the ones to come. To the friends who I haven't talked to in years, thank you. At one point you were a big part of my life. I hope all is well!

3. My education

Knowledge is one thing no one can take away from you. I am grateful to have the opportunity to further my education because not everyone has that privilege. Especially having parents who did not have the opportunity to continue their education makes me more thankful and passionate about my education.

4. My job (Even though I hate it)

I do not enjoy my part time job at Walmart but I am thankful for it. I met a lot of great people by working there! Not only that but as a poor college student this job has helped me get through college. So shout out to Walmart for working with my school schedule these past two years!

5. Coffee!

As the end of the semester is coming to an end, coffee has been my best friend! It has kept me awake late at night and has helped me wake up in the mornings and has gotten me through the day.

I can go on and on about all the blessings life has given me but it would be way too long. Appreciate and be thankful for the little things. Every morning when you wake up, be thankful. Even on your bad days, there is always something to be thankful for. Be thankful always, not just this month.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
