5 Things I Am Thankful For
Kaycee Cintron

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, I realized that I am thankful for so many things. I could go on and on about the things I am thankful for, but I will just leave my top five.

1. Family

Family, of course, is my number one. Family means everything to me. My family is a crazy one, but we all love each other so much! My mother sadly blessed me with two older sisters and a younger brother. We all get on each other's nerves, but that's what siblings are for. I am the "princess" of the family, so I like to think I am my mom's favorite because I am definitely spoiled. We are just one crazy happy family, especially on the holidays. Without my family, I would be a lost puppy.

2. Friends

Friends are so important to me. The friends I have are my family. We are a crazy, happy, laugh non-stop bunch. I am thankful for the friends I have met over these past few months. I am thankful for each and every one of you! I am thankful to know when I need you guys you will be there in a second. Meeting you guys has changed my life and I am happy to know I will have you for the rest of my life!

3. My Boyfriend

I am very thankful for my boyfriend, Nick. We have been by each other's side for over two and a half years. He is my best friend, soul mate, love bug, and just the best boyfriend ever. He does so much for me and I have no idea how I will ever repay him. I love our mini pizza dates in my dorm and our endless movie dates. I am thankful that he puts up with my attitude and still loves me endlessly and I can't thank him enough. I can't wait for a lot more years with Nick! Love you, Pookiebear!

4. My Animals

I am thankful for my animals. I love my animals so much and I wish I could take them all with me to college. I love having a faithful friend like my dogs or my lizards by my side. They are such a good companions to have and I am thankful for the animals I have. I know when I am older my house will be filled with tons of dogs, cats, and lizards. Animals aren't just animals, they are family. So, to my future pets, you will be endlessly loved!

5. Netflix

I think we can all agree that Netflix is something to be very thankful for. Without Netflix, I wouldn't be able to binge watch my favorite shows and procrastinate for hours on end. Without Netflix, my life would not be complete. Netflix is something that is a part of my everyday life and without it, I would be a different person. Netflix has almost all of my favorite shows and I can binge watch them and eat food. The world would be in complete chaos without all of those shows waiting to be watched! So Netflix, I thank you!

These are only some of the things I am thankful for. The ones I chose are what I am thankful for every day and I wouldn't be able to live without. Hopefully, you all can agree with some of the things I wrote about!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
