Time to reminisce...

Life as a child is something that we always remember no matter how old we get. Days as a child were filled with food, play, sleep and more food. Whether it's special holiday, moving on to the next grade or finally getting a license, sometimes we as kids didn't enjoy or experience the moments we lived through because we were constantly thinking about the next adventure. Everyone can admit that at least once during their childhood, they were wishing away time to reach another milestone. Since we've all been kids before, let's do a bit of reminiscing. Here are five things we all miss from our childhood.

1. Cartoons

For as long as TV has been around, cartoons were always a large part of everyone's childhood. Whether it was my personal favorite, "Scooby-Doo," or classics like "Popeye" and "Tom and Jerry," every child had their fix on at least one TV program. Cartoons are still as relevant as they've ever been, however everyone feels that their generations 'toons were always classics.

2. School

Going to school as a child, specifically elementary school, was always something that I looked forward to. Many of my earliest and fondest memories of my life as a child were made at my elementary school. Not only was this a great place for kids to enjoy and make friends, but it was also VERY easy compared to life in high school or college.

3. All the time in the world

One fun activity was always replaced by another when I was at a young age. A kid could come home from school and enjoy doing whatever they wanted to do for the remainder of the day. During a life with no homework, finals or deadlines to constantly worry about, children have all of the time in the world.

4. Innocence

There was never much we had to worry about as children except for who was going to be line leader or who was the best at recess kickball. As I've gotten older, I have realized that the golden thing about childhood is that we're so unaware of all of the travesties of life that we're able to enjoy it more.

5. Friends

The last and final thing we all miss from our childhood is our friends. At a young age, the relationship between you and your friend was very simple. It was likely that you two had similar interests and a play date was the only thing needed to keep you together. Often, it wasn't the changing times that tore you and a friend apart, but they may have simply moved on to a new life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
