Being a college student is plenty of fun and full of excitement, however, being away from home isn't all that easy. Eating campus food or takeout every night almost never fails to make your stomach upset from time to time, and the bed you sleep in at school will never be as comfortable as your bed from home, no matter how long your day was. So in case you need some enlightenment, here's a list of everything you miss from home.

1. The food

Campus food will never even come close to matching a home-cooked meal or your favorite restaurant right down the street. Even if you have a stove and an oven, nothing could even compare to the way your mom or dad makes dinner. Also, eating microwavable ramen noodles gets real old real fast.

2. Your own bathroom

Okay, even if you have to share a bathroom with your siblings it's most likely 100 times better than using your floor's community bathroom or sharing a bathroom with several roommates. You can shower without shoes, leave your stuff in there, and it's probably a lot cleaner. Also, you get A LOT more privacy.

3. Family

College friends are amazing, but you can never get the same comfort you do from your family. No one will ever love you more than your family does, and nothing beats spending a day with people that make you feel safe and comforted. It's tough when you have a rough day at school and your mom isn't directly there to make you feel better. Nothing is better than having your mom tell you everything is going to be okay. (Also, if you have pets, those count as family too. And yes, they miss you too!!)

4. Friends from home

Your best friends from home know you best. They've seen you at your worst phases through high school and still stuck with you through it all. It's difficult to go to a completely new place with completely new faces and not have the friends you grew up with right there by your side 24/7. The late night drives together and having them to hold you when you cry isn't easy to be away from, but it makes it all the more better when you reunite during breaks.

5. Your bed

NOTHING will ever be as comfortable as the bed in your bedroom at home. That bed has been there for you through break-ups, after long nights of doing homework, after tough workouts, and pretty much everything else you can possibly think of. There's no better feeling than waking up in the warmth and comfort of your own bed, and you just can't get the same feeling from the bed you sleep in at school. Your bed has had your back through thick and thin, and the excitement you feel when you're finally able to sleep in your own bed again is unreal.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
