At the age of 15, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try out for the TV show that I had fallen in love with just a couple years before. I was just a shy girl who was wanting to find her place in the world and that's when I decided to do something I will never forget. This is what I learned from my experience.

1. You have to practice day in and day out.

I had to practice 7 days a week until it was time for me to audition. There were some days that I didn't want to practice but, I would have to get over it and do it.

2. Nashville is my favorite place.

I fell absolutely in love with Nashville. I don't even know what I like the most but, Nashville has my heart.

3. I'm one of the people who can say they have sung at the Grand Ole Opry.

While in Nashville, we went to the Grand Ole Opry and I had the opportunity to sing while we were there.

4. I was one of the youngest people to try out.

When you try out, you in as a group and there was just one other 15 year old besides me. It was really intimidating to have to try out with 30 and 40 year old people.

5. Although I didn't get to move onto the next round, I'm so blessed to have had this opportunity.

The judges and the show could only take so many 15 year olds and when I tried out they had already got to the amount of 15 year olds. I'm not upset that I didn't get to go on to the next round, I take it as that I had the opportunity to get invited to something that not a lot of other people get the opportunity to do. This experience changed my life for the better and I'm forever grateful for that.

Who knows, I may just audition again!

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
