I have always loved art for as long as I can remember. Even as a child, my mom would take me to my siblings' sports games, and I would be there drawing and coloring without a care in the world. Naturally, I thought that being and art major would be right up my alley. For all my fellow artsy-fartsy humans! This one is for you!

1. When your favorite sketching pencil gets lost.

There is not a feeling worse than when you have your "go-to" pencil that has always been there for you gets lost. For some reason, your art always looked better when you sketched with that pencil... Maybe you left it on an easel, or in class (while you were dreaming instead of paying attention). Maybe it feel out of your backpack, or you dropped it on the floor. Whatever happened to it... You just lost your best friend and now you feel as though you will never draw again...

2. "How did that get there?!?"

If you paint, draw, use charcoals, whatever, you have undoubtedly ended up with a mark on your body that is completely unexplainable. You manage to get pencil stain on your elbow or charcoal on your forehead and you're just like "wtf?". One moment I had was in painting. I'm extremely short, so much so that the easels we use, on the lowest setting, still go up to my belly button. Yet, being so talented, I managed to get paint on my shorts... Like the leg hole of my shorts, and on my knee. I never noticed until I pulled them from the laundry and was in utter confusion and just thought "how the heck did that get there!"

3. Your teacher is your best friend and worst enemy.

Sometime you look at your teacher like they hang the moon! "I want to paint and draw just like them!" You appreciate their encouragement and love when they point out how good your art is in front of the class... But then again when they set up still lifes that make you want to faint, you adoration goes out the window. Then there's the times you've spent hours on an assignment only to learn that "there's too much white space", lnot enough contrast", "that line isn't straight", "the shape sizing is off". And you just look at your teacher like...

4. Artists' block...

You always talk about how you wish you'd get the chance to draw or paint what YOU want to paint, not silly still lifes and models. Yet, when your time to shine comes, you sit and stare at a blank page or canvas, beating your head on a wall, going "what. do. I. do". There are no ideas left in your head to produce so you just internally scream... Sometimes externally too.

5. Nothing feels better than a completed project.

After all the slaving, still limbs, sore backs, and tears, nothing beats the accomplished feeling of completely finishing your beautiful work of art. That piece of work that's yours and you're proud of it!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
