There's nothing wrong with being a daddy's girl. Our dads are our heros, mentors, and first men in our lives. Dads are there to provide for us, teach us, and show us unconditional love. So, it's perfectly normal for us to want to emulate the qualities that make ours dads so great. Sometimes we take on their qualities without even realizing it. I know I did. Growing up, I was use to friends and family telling me how much I reminded them of my mother. What they didn't realize was how much I should have reminded them of my father. Just the other day I saw a family friend who told me I was my mother's reincarnation. My immediate response: "Well I have my dad's personality." There's nothing wrong with being like your father, in fact it can be a great thing. Here's five ways that prove that you are your father's daughter:

1. You look like him

This is an obvious one, but looks don't always mean genetics like hair color, eye color, or even having similar noses. Looks also include facial expressions, mannerisms, and gestures. If you and your dad roll your eyes at similar things or use the same hand gestures when telling a story that speaks as many volumes as sharing his fair skin or green eyes. I have my dad's eyes, his nose (I think), and we totally make faces at the same things. Also, we both wear glasses (but that might not count).

2. You have similar interests

Did you join the basketball team because you loved practicing with your dad? Or maybe you started learning the guitar because he played as a kid? Sharing similar interests and hobbies with your father will only strengthen your bond and show how much alike you are. Parents can also influence preferances such as your favorite food, music taste, what TV shows you watch or what books you read (at least when you're growing up). My dad and I both love coffee a little too much and listen to classic rock.

3. You have the same sense of humor

My dad and I laugh at the same stuff. Most of the time it's stuff my mother and brother just don't understand, but we think it's hilarious. Also, sometimes I'll tell my friends a joke that I learned from my dad and realize "Wow that's something my dad would say." When you realize you share a sense of humor, it can be a little scary but you learn to embrace it.

4. Your mom can't stop talking about how much you two are alike

My mom's favorite response to anything I say or do is, "You are just like your dad" or "That's something your dad says." If you find your mother (or any other family member) saying similar phrase, then you and your father are more alike than you thought.

5. You're his favorite daughter

It doesn't matter that you might be his only daughter (if you don't have sisters). I know for a fact that I'm my dad's favorite daughter. Sometimes I like to think I'm his favorite child, because I secretly am.

Sometimes you have to own the fact that you are most definitely your father's daughter.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
