Detox water or fruit-infused water is taking the web by storm. There are so many different combinations that are being created with the use of different fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices. With these different combinations there are also tons of different types of health benefits behind the combinations. Some recipes are used for weight loss, while others are used for immune boosts or even migraines.

Make sure that you are letting the water sit for a couple of hours so that the fruits and vegetables fully infuse into the water. Once the water is completely infused, you will be obtaining all of the nutrients from the fruits and vegetables. With summer rolling on in, there are plenty of fruits that are in season that have different benefits for your health. Whether you are an avid detox water drinker, or someone who has seen or heard about it, but you’re a little skeptical, here are some detox water combinations that you could try out for the summer months.

Strawberry & Kiwi

Strawberries and kiwis contain tons of antioxidants that are beneficial for your body. Along with antioxidants, strawberries are said to possibly aid in reducing wrinkles and kiwis are said to be packed with vitamin C and contain dietary fiber that can reduce certain heart diseases and conditions.

Lemon & Cucumber

Everyone knows about lemons and detox waters. Lemons are great for cleansing the body and along with many other types of fruits, they contain antioxidants that can reduce health risks, such as asthma, and they are immune boosters. Cucumber on the other hand is made up of mainly water, which is very hydrating, especially during the hot summer months. Cucumber also helps in cleansing the body, along with slowing down digestion.

Watermelon & Mint

Watermelon is said to have many health benefits such as reducing muscle soreness and it is also great for your skin! Watermelon has vitamin A, which is used by the body to keep it moisturized. Now add that watermelon with mint, which aids in digestion and reduces headaches and nausea, and you will have a lovely, fresh-tasting water.

Mango & Lime

Mango and lime sounds like a perfect summer fruit combination. Mangoes can help reduce the risk of heat stroke and they boost the immune system because of the high amounts of vitamin C and vitamin A. With the addition of lime, this detox water combination will be great for losing weight and keeping the body hydrated, along with other health benefits such as reducing the risk of catching any pesky summer colds that may come around.

Pineapple & Mint

Pineapple is a great anti-inflammatory, which can reduce pain for those who suffer from chronic pain or even arthritis. Adding some mint to the pineapple, lessens the tangy bite from the pineapple with a light, refreshing taste. Mint, as mentioned before, has many benefits for the digestive system.

There are plenty of other benefits from each of these fruits and veggies, but these were just some that may grab your attention. You don’t have to follow any of these combinations either! You can mix and match your favorites to make a super yummy drink that you can sip on throughout the day. Get creative and test out different recipes!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
